Great post and thread. The past few years I'd fallen into a bit of rut, listening to a lot new indie stuff, mostly as filler, and the usual minimal composition/ ambient-ish artists.
For the later part of 2020, I had the urge to expand a little. I've been enjoying a trio of Jazz groups that each evolved into something a bit different: Gogo Penguin, Portico Quartet, and Mammal Hands. Only Gogo Penguin (self-titled) and Mammal Hands (Captured Spirits) released new albums in 2020 - I enjoy both, though I prefer Gogo Penguin's a Humdrum Star or Man Made Object, maybe.
In addition to the usual minimal composition artists I follow, I branched out a little, especially into largely subtle electronic work: Steve Hauschildt, Kyle McEvoy & Sunshine Recorder (Volume One), Bibio (Phantom Brickworks), Northcape... though these were not released in 2020.
A pretty decent year of music for me - a year I started to enjoy consciously exploring a again, something I have not done for a few years, and will continue in 2021... maybe with some dream pop and electro classics back catalogue.
Take care all. Stay safe.
Edits: added a link to a relevant sample of Gogo Penguin's music. ;)
