I keep trying and failing to follow the advice I gave myself several years ago but getting involved with politics and religion.
I looked at the Green Door - and no one gives in on any points made.
PatD posts some facts from an Academic about wearing masks. Well if a particular side distrusts "educated" people as "liars and rich elites" or part of some commie conspiracy then you are basically arguing with people who are still convinced the earth is flat and the sun revolves around the earth.
PatD needs to google "Jordan Klepper vs Trump supporters" and watch the video. Now he will know the enormous brains he's talking to at the Green Door and at Central. Central has some fun threads about cars and the like but the Covid things messed it up and it turns political when friends are dying and you see other countries who got the same information on the same day enact policies immediately - and find great success - these countries with far fewer resources than the mighty USA and Canada and England. So it's frustrating. The average IQ in Hong Kong is 125 - the average in the USA is 99. People here in HK don't wait for the government - as soon as the news hit there was a SARS-like virus - everyone was buying masks and sanitizer.
I was on holiday to Singapore and Tokyo. January 18th I was on a plane to Singapore and I knew then the virus was around and I bought and wore masks for my vacation. I was quite ill about 5 days after my flight to Singapore. Stayed in my hotel in Tokyo for one day but the pharmacist gave me a highly potent cold medicine which fixed me up fast - I bought a box to take back with me because I've never had cold medicine that actually worked this well. Anyway - everyone was buying masks in Tokyo - Chinese tourists were trying to buy 50 boxes - the store put a limit to 3 boxes per person. (box of 10).
I got back in early February to go back to teach on February 3rd or so. All schools canceled and stayed canceled for 4 months. HK hit 100 cases in a day not long back - the schools have been canceled again - we zoom teach. They didn't screw around calling it the flu for 2 months - they don't downplay things. Wear a damn mask, put on gloves, when you come home to put all the clothes in the washing machine. Many people do not eat out. Buy food - wash food - cook food - eat food.
