RE: Have you even *asked* to be banned from a forum?

Feanor, as you know I am a gluten for punishment on these kinds of things - well I was in the late 1990s through for a good 10-12 years. But it really is the same tired argument over and over with the same people over and over.

I spent a week or so on that site - had a couple of laughs at the usual shtick from people I suspect are so angry at life that they can't afford to assemble a $1,000 stereo system so have to tell everyone that spending more is for fools.

Although a lot of people like to have it both ways - they like to say the class D and SS are better than tubes and SET amps "because of the measurements" and then argue they can tell the difference between two SS amps where "the DBTs and measurements indicate that in fact, they can't."

My argument was to some of them that yes the tube amp or DAC measures quite differently so they are correct - you can see it on the measurements - So I suggested that they conduct a DBT because in several blind tests the tube amp WON - even when top SS manufacturers were the listeners in the test - they chose the tube amp. So if top SS makers sell $3,000 SS amplifiers they sit and listen and all choose a $100 tube amp on the used market level matched blind etc - then regardless of the measured-response, they found the tube amp to recreate the musical event better.

As usual, those "objectivist" never actually bother to listen blind or sighted to the gear being crapped on.
