RE: USPS delivery malfunctions

The USPS unions are rather concerned about the Postmaster General, recently appointed by the president, Louis DeJoy. Mr DeJoy, a successful businessman, has also been one of the largest contributors to the president's election campaigns. He claims that he will help the USPS develop a new business plan to succeed.

In order to please the new guy at the top, the Portland, ME postmaster has directed the local stations to disregard established practices of delivering First Class and Priority Mail parcels on a same day as arrival basis and to emphasize delivering bulk rate parcels sent by Amazon instead. As a retired letter carrier, this practice looks like some kind of politicization of the USPS for election year hanky panky. I could be wrong.

I think it would behoove all of us who use the USPS for business mailings, medicine delivery-especially meds from the VA, or just plain sending out cards to our families and friends to occasionally ask our letter carriers and postal clerks if this is happening on a local level. If it is, then it's time to contact your favorite congresscritter, letting her/him know about this, and that you want to see it stopped, yesterday, if not sooner.
