They're not incredibly easy to find (as standalone players) -- although eBAY searches will turn them up; HDCD support for PC CD-ROMs was common (Microsoft bought the technology at some point, if memory serves).
In terms of standalones, they tend to be multi-disc changers; basically, either low-ish end or high-ish end. Not much in-between.
I have a fair number of HDCD discs -- I have a on-loan Rotel changer to play them at HDCD resolution (or whatever the right term would be).
