What's cheap?
For $4k, you can buy a pair of Magnepan LRS speakers ($715 delivered),
a Rogue Audio Cronus Magnum II (readily available used for under $2K)
which is more than capable of driving the Maggies, a Rega Apollo
CDP for $1100 (from Amazon), and some generic cables (Volex 17605
power cords, interconnects and speaker cables from Blue Jeans Cable)
and for right at or under $4k you have yourself a killer little system.
If you play vinyl instead of cds, Rega makes some nice TTs (some with
carts) that are under $1k. This is a killer sounding system.
