Excellent choice! I love Guarnieri. Saw him live a couple of times
in the 1980s at the now-defunct Sacramento Jazz Jubilee, playing with
some of the better bands that worked that event. I think he scared
hell out of those guys because his command of music in general and the
piano in particular was superb. His Ellington and Waller tribute
recordings on the Starline label are just wonderful.
