General audio topics that don't fit into specific categories.

Generational gap.

There are dozens more audio forums than there used to be when the AA first started. That is not a surprise. But there is also a wealth of knowledge stored in the forum archives - its added value - which isn't going anywhere. From what I have seen, however, new audiophiles don't really gravitate here in the same numbers as the past, even if the volume of discussion is more or less the same.

In addition, more modern ways of listening to music and more typical systems of today (streaming, DSD, active systems, headphone systems) are discussed in greater depth elsewhere as younger audiophiles form online peer groups in other fora. Also not surprising. They also talk more about more modern brands that are dear to them, rather than those that might be dear to us and that were contemporaneous with our system building.

What I have noticed though, is that the one forum by which we might bridge the audio and generational gap, the music forum, is diminishing in strength here. Often one inmate or other will dominate postings for long periods of time. This is just observational and I can't provide any data to support it, so ignore this if you like. It's just my impression.

Draw from that what you will!
