There is loads of fantastic music out there. What I see happening is that the pop music business has reached an inflexion point where their collective 'product' fails on musical grounds, if not on a commercial basis.
Great pop music finds more committed audiences either through live acts, or channels like Bandcamp or SoundCloud. There are many others.
Specialists labels (such as LSO's own publishing) for genres such as classical music, for example, are also selling direct. Content aggregators are slowly deteriorating in quality but the raw material is still there. One just has to be cleverer when looking for what you want.
