Where I part from PAR is on the question of specific disc spinners. The risk is there but can be mitigated. My CD transport (Lite Audio LT-One) is based on a a cheap donor transport that has been augmented. I have 4 spares as a result, and may get a few more, just in case. But I acknowledge that not all CD transports can be maintained or sustained in this way. I look forward to many years buying CDs that others will discard along the way!
I'm/we're also getting back into cassettes for fun and also less fiddly portable use while commuting. But there is a large base of cassette lovers out there, in a similar fashion to the established vinyl community - so that's different I guess.
To answer your question more specifically (though it would help to understand what component you have in mind), if I like the sound and musical contribution enough then yes - I would buy it and enjoy it while I could, so long as the investment didn't hurt. If not, then no.
