Yes, double the cost to get improvement

Since you spent twice as much on the new arm and noticed an improvement, your experience supports my general law of returns: double the price to get appreciable return in performance. There are certain common elements that elevate the performance of audio equipment, and they almost invariably cost more money as they improve.

Of course, there are variations and exceptions when special pricing, used equipment, poorly or especially well-designed equipment, technological developments, and smart value shopping are a factor.

Peace,
Tom E
