Oops

Strange that you thought that was whining.

Please understand that my post was not about your comments - instead, it was in context of the original post and especially of the many responses to yours. Pardon the unintended confusion.

I remember well when I was 18 and had the dumb luck to be in listening sessions among several audio reviewers whose experience in music and sound quality was vastly superior to mine.

Fortunately, I appreciated the fact that it was I who didn't have the critical skills involved.

Despite my "golden ear hearing response" (burglar alarms drove me crazy), I had a lot to learn as to exactly what I was hearing. Over time, my observations became similar to that of my mentors in terms of what I was able to hear in recordings.

Despite my limited 12k hearing response today, I hear far more into recordings that I ever did in my youth.

May others share the wonderful luck I did with critical listening training by experienced individuals with regular access to live unamplified music and a wide range of high end gear.
