It was, (and is) all about DRIVING the thing, vs. being driven by it.
Guys like Michael Schumacher and Lewis Hamilton might well disagree. :)
Speaking of Lewis, I attended the US Grand Prix this weekend at COTA. Pure audio bliss with revised exhaust regs that return to more of the music I was accustomed to in the early 2000s.
As for me, I have one of each - an S2000 and a PDK equipped Boxster. Manuals are fun, but I cannot think of any driving advantage to it over the dual clutch along with having multiple shift modes. Not to mention the unmistakable sound when shifting. Ambidextrous paddles facilitate quick downshifts before entering tight corners while I watch the G meter peg 1.0.
Never have needed to jump start the S2000 after sixteen years - last time I did that was in '85 or so with a 5-speed Accord in Winter.
