I'd like to add my suggestions to the many already posted. Before you start playing with footers or cones for your gear, consider adding some "Dyna-Mat" type material on the bottom of your shelving. The stuff is usually used in dampening car doors when upgrading the speakers in someone's ride and can help your rack without adding a lot of extra weight. Check with Parts Express if you need advice and search the usual places such as Amazon and Ebay to determine whether or not you've found a fair price.
Since footers, cones, and other devices can be expensive, go down to your local Home Depot or Lowe's and pick up some wooden drawer pulls to place under your gear before committing to something expensive. They're relatively cheap so don't bother with the smallest size. Look for the ones that have a rounded face so there will be a small amount of contact between surfaces. If you like them and aren't crazy about the bare wood look, just treat them with food safe mineral oil, the stuff used on wooden cutting boards.
