Cool. I'm very happy for you! I hope to find that peace someday. We too are retired but I feel most days it doesn't really feel like it but Mrs. TP likes it here.
We used to go camping in Big Sur and my favorite hike was up the Tan Bark Trail. A beautiful trail up the ridgeline next to a incredible crystal clear creek with redwoods, ferns, mosses. It was like being in the Keebler Forest. Unfortunately, it's all gone now. A fire a few years back took it all. I've never gone back, I want my memories preserved.
Thanks for sharing, your post brought back some happy hiking memories and reminds me of one of my bucket list items -- raft the Rogue!
