RE: Your favorite room at Capital AudioFest?

This was a great show. The first I've been to in a long time and well worth it. This show has an eclectic mix of vintage, niche, mainstream, and new products as well as all sorts of music used for demos. The manageable size of the show enabled you get good seats for the demos as well as meet and talk with the vendors who were really friendly and accessible. Thanks Dave Sckolnik of DSA for doing a direct cartridge comparison for me of the Ortofon A95 versus the Miyajima Madake cartridges through his very flexible and transparent DSA Phono II!

Many of the rooms had very good to excellent sound, but I second the view on the West Electric speaker system in the Deja Vu Audio room. Although the highs weren't super extended, I can't remember the last time I was so impressed with a system's stunning presence and clarity with nothing between you and the music. How far we've come since the 30's.

I also liked the Robyatt Audio Room with the Miyajima source and electronics and Elecrostatic Solutions Quads, and the VPI/KEF Blades set-up. By comparison, the Backert Labs/Martin Logan Montis room struck me as a great sounding and looking, reasonably affordable system you might be able to build over time, that anyone would be happy to own. It could also fit in most living spaces without risking a divorce.
