RE: Axpona

Kinda of a contrarian here. Went Friday am, not too crowded. Very similar show to last year - surprisingly so. Heard the same pitches almost word for word. Even more large, very expensive and just plain weird looking speakers than last year. Nothing that could be in most of our homes even if we had the money. That said, I did finally land on what I need at home - better amplification. You could hear it in the deep, warm male vocals as most rooms were using very powerful amps.

Meridian MQA room was interesting, I must have missed the A/B comparison and without one it was difficult to tell how much better it sounded.

Looked for a Pono demo and only found one. They were having trouble with the interface and I must say it seemed to be difficult to operate smoothly. Not that impressed with hirez, sounded good but no better to my ears than cd. Friday before noon so music was pretty boring. No Devore this year that i could find - love their sound. Audio Note sounded good, as did many of the Dynaudio and Tannoy rooms. D'augostino components are simply beautiful and built to the max. Some day........

Picked up the CTA SACD for $25 - saved tax and shipping.
