RE: What is the worst sound you have ever heard?

Early audiophile days, about 28 years old then. Some of us tried to form an audiophile club in KC MO. We'd take turns listening to various set ups. Started when a guy discovered Fulton J, Magneplanar Tympani, Linn Sondek LP 12 and moving coils, ARC gear.

So there we go unsuspectingly to an old modest or lower house w creaky front porch.

Owner had a pair of stadium size Altec Lansing A7's, forgot which receiver (large SS) and switched back and forth to Crown DC 300 and 75,
and ran a Technics SP 10 dunno arm and cart but possibly a Stanton. Believe me, 5 seconds listening to hard rock (Stones?) on that set up led to instant deafness, imagine the volume. Then he played some organ pedals and effects LP.
