RE: I Read Jim Smiths "Get Better Sound"

It's too easy to scan it and think, "I know that"; "Saw that before", etc. Yep, on that basis, it's just a good read. Don't stop there.

Take absolutely nothing for granted. It's worth it's weight in gold when you invest hours to experiment with any of the advice in detail.

My example - Bi/tri-amping. Jim doesn't recommend it. Doing it right is beyond most people's capabilities, understanding, and patience. Oh, his requirements are not at all in agreement with the expert advice you'll find on this forum. Of course I knew I had an optimal set-up. After all, with 30 years of multi-amping experience involving 4 different active crossovers, 4 different pairs of speakers, and 9 amps in 3 different rooms, of course I knew everything.

Silly me. I tried his advice and literally cried for joy at the results. An audio nut with an expensive system came over to listen and his first remark was how well-integrated the sub-woofer was (not to mention the main speakers).

I'm in heaven now. Many Thanks Jim.
