Check your anti-virus and browser security settings

I don't know what/if security changes Rod may have made with the upgrade. But it might not be the AA site or server causing the problem. It could be your anti-virus and/or browser settings instead.

Anti-virus programs scan pictures in a separate process. So if there are lots of pics on a page, it can slow down the load time (depending on the AV program and/or the settings.) And with most browsers (I'm only familiar with Internet Explorer) you should customize the security settings anyway, to keep 'security alert' messages from popping up all the time.

With both anti-virus programs and browsers, you can usually designate 'Trusted Sites' which will then not be subjected to the default scanning protocol. See if designating BOTH http://www.audioasylum.com AND http://www.audioasylumtrader.com as 'Trusted Sites' reduces load time. (Remember, you have to do BOTH, as they now have separate URL's)
