RE: Is it safe...?

Rule of thumb with amplifiers is last on/first off to be safe. Most modern solid-state components have a built in circuit that delays power up but there may still be a 'pop' associated with start up which if amplified could possibly damage a driver but since it is only a transient, damage is unlikely although the sound produced could prove annoying.
