Different tastes I guess.
The phase issues introduce severe frequency response anomalies where various notes and/or their harmonics arrive partially or completely out of phase with those arriving from the other speaker.
It is audible and depressingly measurable.
Such an uneven frequency response not only alters tonal balance, it distorts the harmonic relationships of notes, rendering them less recognizable.
It may present a pleasing spatial aspect to some, but I cannot imagine how the altered notes in the music could be as pleasing overall as when played back with one properly located loudspeaker.
OTOH, maybe not, if the mono listener is forced to sit well off-axis, and the uneven off-axis polar response is just as bad, or even worse...
