So much resolution is lost by the time the consumer gets the media. Many "mastering engineers" run the levelling amps at 11 and just love delay/reverb, thinking it adds to the recording. It's even worse in this patch bay, Pro tools, plug ins, Auto tune world.
Sigh, ... 'nuf said.
