PAINTING: Man holding his Breath , 2001
howard,
Of course, the famous Bambi of Disney- in effect "Bambi A", was indeed of the dudesque persuasion. Most of the movie takes place when Bambi is young and orphaned, confused and passive, but eventually shows us true Amurkan spirit, grows antlers, and takes over all the local forest rackets, becoming "The Forest King". This story of pluck and pep was so very profitable for Disney, it was later remade in near exact form into a story called "The Lion King".
And yes, though genetically .75 Dutch and pale I'm identifiably male: 6'2", 185 lbs. and I have quite long legs for my height. When I had that frame made in England in 1975 I was only 150 lbs. of fightin' fish 'n chips- thin and wirey.
If you're interested in bicyles, the frame is a custom 26-1/2" (with a 46-1/2" wheelbase) Holdsworth Professional that I had done in black and without chrome stays. Those frames were standard in Holdsworth team colours of orange and blue and all the fussy chrome details which I thought looked terrible- a colour scheme for a 1968 tea cozy. All the stuff on it is Campagnolo Nuovo Record, Brooks Professional leather saddle, Cinelli fork and etc.- a period piece still patiently sitting out in the garage.
Ah, the good ol' days when I was thin, driving my first car, a 1952 Bentley MKVI and riding a bike in a civilised country,..
Cheers,Bambi B
