I was working at ARC. Our SP-3A-1 preamp had tone controls. We were the big dog in high-end audio then.
We could not believe that the preamp from that upstart Mark Levinson didn't have 'em. No way would it be successful.
LOL!!!
AFAIK, that was when it all started.
