RE: Setting up a new 2 channel system based on available equipment

I'm on my way out the door but I believe your choices will bring satisfaction since you are familiar with both the amplifier and loudspeakers
and have enjoyed both.
The Meridian I have heard for many hours at the RMAF. I found it to be smooth and still revealing of detail. Build quality and cosmetics were also pleasing so if you can buy one for $2500.; it's a no brainer provided it's a 9/10. I always liked buying demos as they have proven themselves over many more hours than a home unit over the same time frame. They are generally handled by more experienced operators as well.

The new Proacs will take a little time to 'work in' of course. If you want to speed up the process, you can face them tightly together, wire them out of phase and run white or pink noise through them. Just tune an FM tuner between stations and amplify the obnoxious hissing storm being produced; preferably when no one is home or in a sealed room. You can also lay the loudspeakers face down on a carpet but I prefer method one.

About a week of this will be the equivalent of several hundred hours normal playing time. Who knows> The Proacs may not be that bad right out of the carton.

Well I really must be going. Catch up with you later. Regards.

Jon
