Good point and you could have also mentioned that 'used' loudspeakers will most likely have over 500 hours on them and hence will be fully 'broken in'. I prefer the term 'worked in' but the bottom line is loudspeaker surrounds are quite stiff when new and require hundreds of hours to relax and allow the drivers to sound as good as they can.
The mark-up on loudspeakers is criminal to begin with so buying second hand is just good, common sense.
