RE: Poll: You "should not" hear differences between components...


I can hear differences in every component I audition. Some are slight and barely noticeable while others much more evident. The real question is whether the differences are meaningful to you the listener and potential buyer. Compile a list of what is affordable and narrow it down from there. Last amp standing is your winner.
A wise, elderly saleman once told me to listen to music foreign to you or even music you wouldn't normally be interested in listening to. This allows you to be more objective from the get go.
Now, play the music louder than your normal, comfortable level. If after an extended period of listening you aren't experiencing fatigue and irritability then the amplifier/source combination is probably quite good.
Trust you ears in the end as words on paper are just that. Specs are meaningless.
