RE: I don't like the new infinity's after designer Arnie Nudel left and took his EMIT technology with him

There seems to be a lot of disagreement regarding the Kappa 7s highs which I found to be more dependent on room acoustics than amplification.
I am surprized no one has attacked the sluggish bass response and total lack of the bottom octave which like so many speakers has been masked by a peak at or near the woofer's resonant frequency.
In their defense the Infinitys are a pleasant loudspeaker to listen with not unlike Bose or Genesis
but cannot seriously contend with the faster, more accurate performers of the last decade.
I think perhaps after someone has listened to one sound; the sound of their loudspeakers for an extended period they begin to believe that this is the norm; the reference to which all others will be judged. Sometimes one must emerge from our comfort zone and experience other possibilities. An easy way to experience what your loudspeakers are leaving out is to A/B them with a good pair of reference headphones. You just may be surprized at what you have been missing.
