From an old Stereophile article by Corey Greenburg. Get yourself some cinder blocks, paint them (if you want to get fancy), stack them on end (two high, if necessary). Use some Blue-tac or clay to secure the speaker to the stand. That should get the tweeter of the Advent 1 up to ear level.
At least this way you'd know if you like them on stands (I have the 1's and like them up off the floor) before you make an investment in "real" stands.
