RE: I did try to get the name of the company correct

Let's start with what's wrong-or can be wrong-with idle speculation. First, it's usually not based upon any real knowledge, e.g., Thiel's decision to sell through Crutchfield. This is just as likely to be a good business decision as an act of desperation, since it might very well significantly expand Thiel's customer base. You sound as though this is inherently a bad thing for a high end brand, even though many of us in this hobby are constantly bemoaning the inability of audiophile oriented equipment to find a wider audience. Second, a company, large or small, experiencing delays in getting a new product to market is not an unusual phenomenon. Ever hear of Microsoft or Apple? Third, your opinion about value for money is just that: An opinion with which others may differ.

As to the "British boxes", well, those companies have been around for a long time, weathered numerous economic cycles and somehow managed to survive. These are indeed difficult times, but there is no real reason to believe Spendor and/or Harbeth are any more vulnerable than others, especially since both have at least some presence in the professional market.

With regard to Tyler you offer not a shred of information to support your "doubt." Why? That's why I didn't see any necessity to "defend" Tyler, a concern with which I've never had any relationship, even as a customer.

Your comments are aimed at companies whose products are,
while not inexpensive, certainly not among the most expensive in the high end marketplace. This flies in the face of nearly everything I've seen recently about consumer buying, i.e., it's the really expensive luxury stuff that has been most adversely affected by the current economic disaster.

Finally, my concern with your posts is indicative of what I see as an overall problem with the Internet: Lots of speculation, few facts. This can be particularly hazardous to the health of the sort of companies that dominate the high end: Small, closely-held enterprises. Unfortunately too many people read this stuff, don't bother to think much about the source of information and take it for more than it is worth.
