For one among thousands, the company I headed as CEO. I was ready to retire and wanted to cash out after 40 years. My partners were pretty tired as well, and when we got an offer that made sense, we accepted it. Our company was healthy as hell. So are many others in the same boat, although this was long before the current economic unpleasantness. I don't know where you get the idea that only sick companies get sold. The healthier they are, the better price they bring. Oh, and our stockholding employees (many or most of them) made out well too.
