It is also Joe Musician, not just Joe Blow...

"The truth is that Joe Blow doesn't know what a 'bit' is and how it affects digital replay, and if they did they wouldn't give two hoots as how many kids do you know who give a flying fig about the amount of compression used when they download the latest album to their iPod?"

I have tried to get one of my musician friends who produces his own albums to record his original recordings and mix at higher than 44.1/16 resolution. So far, I have gotten nowhere. He does spend thousands of dollars on microphones, though, so he isn't deaf. And he has talked about putting his final mixes onto 30 IPS tape before going to the CD pressing plant to provide "analog" sound.

Perhaps someone can explain this situation?
