have to disagree.
If people really believed 'bits is bits' then DVD-A and SACD would have taken off, because more bits equals more resolution.

The truth is that Joe Blow doesn't know what a 'bit' is and how it affects digital replay, and if they did they wouldn't give two hoots as how many kids do you know who give a flying fig about the amount of compression used when they download the latest album to their iPod?

If artists are now trying to push vinyl onto kids it's probably because they aren't making enough from downloads or CDs and vinyl is harder to pirate.
