I Confess, Nipper Really Thought It Was Me!

I'm sorry for all the confusion. FYI the dog was named Nipper because he tried to bite visitors on the leg. Nipper’s original owner, Mark Henry Barraud, died in 1887, but Nipper lived on through his son Son-of-Nipper, his grandson Nipper III, and his great, great grandsons one of whom I owned Nip-R.

RCA made a recording of my voice saying "Here boy, come here!" They then had Nip-R sit in front of an Edison Bell cylinder phonograph and look into it's horn as they played the recording of my voice back so Nip-R could hear it! You should have seen all hell break loose as unbeknownst to everyone there in some of the surrounding building they were filming Rin-Tin-Tin and Lassie.

It took a hell of a lot of coaxing and more than a couple of RCAs finest got "nipped" for trying to make Nip-R remain seated with Rin-Tin-Tin and Lassie braking and scratching at the door.

In any event it was my voice, Nip-R's master and he recognized it.

Here's a picture of the original Nipper and a painting of his original seating...
