RE: "You don't need a blind test for something that has clearly audible differences. And with LP they do."

Well the T in the DBT is problematic for validity in education and psychology so why engineers ignore it I don't know. But not to go down that road for the umpteenth time - yes it is highly possible for someone to hear a click know it's vinyl and because they're biased toward vinyl they'll pick it.

You could run a test with LPs that have zero audible surface noise but I would question that simply because most LP's are not without some surface noise. It is also possible that the CD guy with one click of the vinyl chooses CD because he is in the CD is superior camp.

My dealer claims to have done such tests years ago and everyone chose vinyl.

I just don't get why people care so much - why not have both - if people actually gave a damn about - oh yeah - the music, then they should have both because there is SOOOOOO much music that has never gone to CD. There are many LP's with extra songs, many cds with extra songs.

I am happy to see some vinyl releases throw in a cd - so now you get both. Even Madonna's new Hard Candy - 3 LP set with a CD thrown in. Now everyone is happy - trouble is you have to want the Madonna album - but nothing's perfect. Hey two candy coloured LPs a 12 inch single and a CD and only $30.00 in the US -- woohooh where do I pay...
