OK I understand where you are coming from but I don't buy the premise that the two media are inherently so different that one can always identify which medium is playing under blind conditions. Indeed this *can* be the case when certain distinctive colorations that *can* plague vinyl rise to the level of detectability. Obviously you can't use those particular LPs for blind comparisons against CDs. Biases can profoundly affect preferences even when differences are gross. This has been clearly demonstrated in blind speaker comparisons. so as long as one avoids particular LPs that have gross colorations that distinguish them as LPs one can do fair blind comparisons. I know this from having done them.
