RE: The sound issue is a non issue...

The problem with blind testing LP vs. CD is the surface noise (or absence of it) will cue the listener regarding which medium is playing, so it isn't truly "blind" (the "sighted" being aural rather than visual). Simulated "surface noise" during the CD playback would be necessary so the listener couldn't distinguish one medium from the other. Easier said than done. (The best way to do this is playing a "silent groove" off the vinyl rig simultaneously with the CD.)
