The difference between a musician and an audiophile is that the musician does not default to being critical when listening to music. The audiophile does.

Ask a musician to be crtitical, and the vast majority can. Most musicians realize that no stereo is going to convince them they are hearing the real thing. So most choose to buy mass market- as even a low-fi product can allow the listener to connect emotionally with the music.
