Despite the brand, the content of many components would surprise many of us. The value added (by far the largest part of the price) is in the design and marketing.
A tear-down of the iPod showed content from maybe a dozen countries. Where do you suppose most of the ICs in solid state gear are made? Or the LCD monitors most of us are sitting in front of us? Or for that matter the wiring harnesses and electronic and most other parts in our cars?
The location of manufacturing is irrelevant. Yeah, even for those nativists who bleat about jobs. All economies (even China's) would be weaker without offshore manufacturing. Read a little Riccardo and Smith if you're not sure why
