On the contrary (a general manifesto)...

We would all like to know what you have in your inexpensive system that makes it sound so good. There is some snobbery here, and a lot of it in audiophilia in general. That's why there are $60k amplifiers and $5k cables. Those with open minds know better than to fall into the trap of glamour goods with few outstanding attributes other than a pretty faceplate and an outrageous price. Many of us are curious how others have assembled a satisfying system without breaking the bank, whether it be by shopping shrewdly or cleverly building/modifying something themselves.

What few of us can tolerate, however, is the idiot who comes in here bragging that their system is superior to all others, in some cases without having much exposure to the true fidelity stuff that is out there. These are the boors who claim to "love" their stereos. What they really mean is they love themselves for being so perfect that even their stupid stereo is faultless. Also deserving of ridicule are those who claim some sort of inherently superior sensory capabilities or infallible aesthetic judgement that renders them incapable of ever making an error in equipment selection or musical preference. They argue relentlessly that their position is the only acceptable one, and all else is worthless and you're a fool to even consider disagreeing with them.

Sorry to drop a rant like that, but what I really mean is that, with the right attitude (an open mind, a sense of humor, and some humility, for starters), there is no reason you should be shy about sharing the details of your system, good and bad.

A few more things: as in most internet sites, DON'T WRITE IN ALL CAPS. Be considerate and try to use puncuation, correct spelling, and decent grammar. Not everyone is an English major (in fact, some posters here don't speak English, and I greatly admire their efforts compared to the morons who got a full education in the USA and still can't write better than a fifth grader or are just too lazy to try), but you should try to make yourself easy to understand and, if possible, even a little entertaining.

Peace,
Tom E
