chuck55....I have to agree. Yes a single driver speaker does the "real thing" just incredible. It does (usually) give up at the frequency extremes but what it does right is sooooooo right it's hard to ignore. I currently am listening to some Acuhorn 175's, single driver no crossover, that I find wonderfull "real".
Multi-driver speakers, after listening to most single driver designs always sound "hi-fi" and there is an initial excitement but after that it's just OK, IMO.
