Home General Asylum

General audio topics that don't fit into specific categories.

Please provide data that demonstrate that audiophiles

exhibit hearing loss at a rate exceeding the general population.

Surely you can do so!

I'll even go for anecdotal evidence provided it is reasonably strong, i.e. something stronger it being the case because *you* say so.

That reminds me, there was a recent thread in which a surprisingly high number of 40++ers were reporting hearing the 15kHz "mosquito" tone on a test track; it was related to that business of establishments using a high pitched, supposedly unheard by adults, tone to annoy juveniles so they wouldn't hang about ... I guess to reduce 5-finger discount losses or something like that.

That, admittedly anecdotal, evidence suggests that audiophiles retain their hearing acuity rather well.

Anyway, looking forward to what you have to offer ... TIA.
