Re: How about "Pure Perfect Sound Forever"?

Too true, however prior to buying my Sony CDP-101 way back when I had ceased buying LP records for the three previous years due to the abysmal quality of the 60% that would even play without skipping. And it wasn't my equipment, the older stuff still played fine, 'twas simply corporate priorities of the misplaced variety. At least the CD’s played even if not as well as a good record using a new stylus.

I think we all are in debt to Stereophile who was relentless in pointing out that we were missing something in CD’s even after the A/D’s improved. Now we know that the culprits were mostly jitter and truncation but I question if the industry would ever have done a thing without nagging from a few vocal audiophiles, mastering engineers and musicians.
