Audiogon's raison d'etre is the buying and selling of USED audio equipment. New equipment ad's are ancillary, at best. You seem to be attempting to force a square peg into a round hole. Of course, the 'dollar auction' seems preposterous in the setting you're HOPING for, just as a Zales Jewelry would be incongruous inside a Tiffany's,but more acceptable at the local Saturday Market. Saying that, I still don't believe A'gon is a poor place for a dealer to place straight-up, no b.s. ads. Marketing to a specific, well-informed client base has got to be good for a high-end dealer, unless you're depending on Skippy and Muffy wandering in to your B&M, looking for some "electronic stuff" like "Biff and Marty down the street have". If nothing else, as one dealer said earlier, a'philes have an avenue to sell old gear, freeing up cash for the new.via con dios
