......for the very reasons you describe. So....:1. Tell us your budget
2. Your tastes
3. Your aesthetic requirements
4. Your room dimensions
5. Your possible other uses for the system (TT, HT, PC, etc.)
6. Your applications (CD, SACD, DVD, MP3, etc.)Ask the inmates to build you a system. Take the 3-4 recommendations that strike a chord with you. Google them. Read AA, Audioreview......then go to Audiogon. Cut 4 deals with 4 longstanding sellers or fellow hobbyists and watch as your killer new system shows up on your door 5 days later for half of what those boneheads in Hooterville wanted to charge you.
Or.....keep howling at the moon.
