Let's face it ... the days of the bricks and mortar high-end audio stores are virtually numbered. Between Audiogon, internet dealers, and home dealers, most of these high end shops can't afford to stay open ... never mind give you a free coffee. Many stores will not tolerate audiophiles who want to spend hours listening to equipment, knowing quite well that the person will likely buy it at a big discount from one of these alternative sources and will often buy it used in the end. I know I bought my amps and speakers as used or demo equipment from one of these newer alternative dealers, rather than buying from an old style store. I mean given how the stores are now treating you, why would you pay them a premium when you can get the equipment through these alternative channels.Unfortunately, sometimes you may have no choice but to buy your equipment without previewing it ... I bought my Lamms without listening, based on reputation and a Audiogon friend's advice and haven't regretted it.
