I noted this in another reply. Once you start letting them out, they are forever outdoor cats who simply come in when it is convenient for them. They are not feral in that they are afraid of people, but they are most certainly cats of the world and will never be happy kept in the house.As I said however, the drawback to that is they can come in and do damage, and then go outside and get damaged themselves. My advice if you have that large a rodent problem outside is to keep barn cats that never come in. Otherwise keep them in, and get the claws out. It's quite nice to get "scratched" by them with no claws. My one does it to my pants pockets when I sit down and we both enjoy it.
