I belong to the Carolina Audio Society. Our Prez is Danny B of this forum. Meetings are nicely organized. No one seems to be stuffy, although I might not have noticed since I am so happy to have other audiofools to talk to. Long drive to meetings--3 hours each way.
I also belong to a Audio Circle Forum group that is sometimes more fun than the CAS meetings because we audition more equipment than the CAS guys at our meetings. The AC guys are a lot younger, being in their late 20s and early 30s. This is a more beer(microbrews + imports) and pizza crowd--very non-stuffy. Local meetings--thank god since we do drink some brews.
Both groups are fun . CAS has more expensive equipment and elaborate meetings, and AC is about finding best bang for the buck. Music at both meetings has been good and worth buying after meetings.
