Some units allow you to vary the hinge frequencies of the built in filtering. If you do some digging in various posts in the Hi-Rez / Digital Asylums and over at Agon too, i think that you'll find that most everyone that has tried the various settings almost always prefers those with the widest bandpass possible. That means that the filters are doing the least work that they can, which is why the music sounds better / less intruded upon. In-band phase shifts and non-linear frequency responses are more noticeable than out of band hash. Sean
